During the Digestive Disease Week 2015 held in Washigton DC, Laura J. Burns, from OpenBiome, presented a universal stool donor model for FMT that improves screening and reduces costs and delays.

The model is based in three steps to recruiting and determining  the eligibility of donors who has an overall passed rate of 4.1%. The reasons for discard candidates went from hgh-risk sexual behaviour to psychiatric conditions and autoimmune diseases. But the most common cause was the detection of asymptomatic rotavirus with no risk factors.
